Folks who you should know about and listen to!
Tracy Newman — www.tracynewman.com — her band is Tracy Newman and the Reinforcements (and I’m in her band AND on her new album).
Cameron Daddo — www.camerondaddo.com — he’s AMAZING and wonderful and talented and Australian. I’ve performed with him and I’m also on his album.
Dutch Newman and the Musical Melodians musicalmelodians.com — Dutch Newman performs at Mikal Sandoval’s Speakeasy night every 4th Thursday of every month at the Talking Stick in Venice. I’ve performed with Dutch and his Musical Melodians before at said Speakeasy night a handful of times, and it’s always a blast! (And I’m on his album, too…)
Dan Levinson — www.danlevinson.com — well, as far as jazz clarinet players go, there’s Dan Levinson, and then there’s everyone else. When Dan isn’t playing all over the globe, he’s regularly in New York with Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks on Monday and Tuesday nights at the Edison Hotel. I’m truly as lucky as can be because Dan Levinson is my friend and I’ve performed with his band, too!!!
Molly Ryan — www.mollyryan.com — Molly Ryan is a beautiful jazz singer, and I’ve gotten to sing with her! She also plays a mean rhythm guitar! She’s incredible and every time I have a chance to see her perform, I always have a smile on my face. Also, she’s married to Dan Levinson.
Banu Gibson — www.banugibson.com — This is probably the biggest musical mentor I have. She is New Orleans-based and she and two other majorly fabulous women run the New Orleans Traditional Jazz Camp (www.neworleanstradjazzcamp.com). Banu is an internationally known singer and banjo player and she’s one of my favorite people on the planet.
David Lucky — davidluckytunes.com — This criminally genius fellow is also one of my close friends, and I’m a lucky girl (no pun intended) to know him. His songwriting is unique and imaginative, while piercingly witty. Check him out!
